You probably live in a cooler neighborhood than me. Well, not probably. You for sure live in a cooler neighborhood than I do, but just in case no one has started a Halloween Phantom yet, here is a poem that I wrote a couple years ago (well, I kinda wrote it stealing lines from other poems). If you have never
Phantomed (which includes leaving a plate of goodies on a porch, running the doorbell, and running like heck so you don't get caught), it is such an adrenaline high. Both you and your kids will love it!

And it always reminds me of when we first moved into First Ward and we got
phantomed every night. I knew I would love that ward!
And now for a cookie
quandry:
I wanted to make pumpkin cookies to decorate with gumdrops, candy corns, and red hots (like when we were little). So what is the best pumpkin recipe to make that with? I am not much of a pumpkin cookie connoisseur, so I need some advice.

I love this recipe:
1 spice cake mix
1 15-oz can pumpkin
1/4 c. butter
1 c. mini chocolate chips
Mix together, and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
This recipe is so easy, and so delicious. If you are going to be decorating, then you need to spread out the batter since it doesn't really spread on it's own while baking.
Also, you can't go wrong with the recipe mom made for us when we were kids. It is called Great Pumpkin Cookies (the one with oatmeal)in the cookbook. I love this time of year!!
nice job on the poem. It reminds me of another not-yet-published-poem.
I liked monica's recipe (I tried it last year). Although Monica, I wasn't sure about how long to mix it. Do you want to mix it for a long time like cake (because I did and they turned out rather cakey), or do you want to just barely mix them.
I just mix it until everything is incorporated. And you really do need to spread them. Basically, what ever shape and size they are when you put them into the oven is the same size they will be when you take them out.
I vote for the recipe with the oatmeal and the chocolate chips.
I loved that recipe, although Monica's sounds easier.
