Christmas Stockings
I started these nine years ago when Michael was a baby. Finished them today. Watched a lot of "White Christmas" and "North and South" while working on these.
Someone needs to invent Christmas painters tape for me to hang my stockings.

Twin Baby Boys Quilts
My sister asked me to make quilts for her baby twin boys. She fell in love with the "Vintage Air" fabric by Premier Prints, and couldn't find any other fabrics in quilting cotton that she loved as much, so that's what we went with. The fabric is like a looser weave canvas or lightweight home decor material. Definitely not my first choice for piecing into a quilt top, so I chose a design that spread out the heavier weight fabric, and used lots of quilting cotton to help keep the quilts from being too heavy and stiff.
My sister requested that the quilts be able to be distinguished from each other, but my Mom and I didn't want to cause trouble down the road by making the quilts with different colors. I came up with the idea of mirroring the pattern, so the quilts appear nearly identical, but could easily be told apart.
Wileen machine quilted a super cute swirl pattern on both quilts, and it kind of reminds me of wind tunnel testing airplanes. Finished size is 48" x 54", and the backing for both quilts is the dark Robin's egg blue material.

Stormtrooper Pixel Quilt
Easton eats, sleeps and breathes Stormtroopers, so I pretty much didn't have a choice when I saw a Stormtrooper pixel quilt on Etsy.
I ran across the Stormtrooper block print fabric at JoAnn, and just had to use it for the border. That fabric was a pain in the rear to piece together for the border, and had me pulling out my hair more than once.
The backing is a white flannel with black "Star Wars" logos all over. Wileen graciously did the machine quilting, and I just love how it turned out.

Autumn Table Runner and Yellow Brick Road Quilt
Made this simple table runner for fall with fabric from Hobby Lobby. No batting, no quilting, just sewed two pieces of fabric together. Tom is going to build me a table box to put seasonal decorations in. I'm excited.
Mom helped me with this baby quilt. I still love the Yellow Brick Road Pattern. :)

Zipper Pouches
I've been working on several quilting projects recently, and Easton has been asking to help sew. The last time he showed an interest in sewing, I helped him make a simple pillowcase, using a kit from Craft Warehouse. I let him help me with some of the piecing on his Stormtrooper quilt, but he needed a project with a bit more instant gratification. I found this video tutorial by GourmetQuilter, and since it is mostly simple straight lines, it fit the bill. Easton used a fat quarter each of Just Wing It by MoMo and a random blue fabric from my stash, so all we had to do was go buy some fun zippers.
Easton's zippered pouches turned out so cute, I decided to make one for myself. I used Jenny Doan's tutorial to mix things up a bit. I chose some Riley Blake scraps for the exterior, a scrap of Kona Cotton- Grass for the lining, and some random orange binding scraps for the zipper tabs.

Toreys quilt
Torey told us the color for ovarian cancer is teal (the color for breast cancer is pink). This has some teal-ish colors in it. Samantha pieced and quilted this. Monica helped iron and pin. Grandma sewed the binding on. I think Samantha did a great job on her first quilt.

Baby Quilt
I pieced this baby quilt and Mom quilted it. It turned out adorable (the colors are much better in person). The funny square is the baby name, which I blocked out - ya know, to protect the innocent. I used this tutorial. Sunday, January 25, 2015
