My sister asked me to make quilts for her baby twin boys. She fell in love with the "Vintage Air" fabric by Premier Prints, and couldn't find any other fabrics in quilting cotton that she loved as much, so that's what we went with. The fabric is like a looser weave canvas or lightweight home decor material. Definitely not my first choice for piecing into a quilt top, so I chose a design that spread out the heavier weight fabric, and used lots of quilting cotton to help keep the quilts from being too heavy and stiff.
My sister requested that the quilts be able to be distinguished from each other, but my Mom and I didn't want to cause trouble down the road by making the quilts with different colors. I came up with the idea of mirroring the pattern, so the quilts appear nearly identical, but could easily be told apart.
Wileen machine quilted a super cute swirl pattern on both quilts, and it kind of reminds me of wind tunnel testing airplanes. Finished size is 48" x 54", and the backing for both quilts is the dark Robin's egg blue material.
