Baby Butterfly Doll

While my great niece was visiting for Christmas, I decided she needed a cute doll to take home with her. I used Bit of Whimsy's Baby Bumblebee pattern. Instead of using the bee wings from the pattern, I used Sew Mama Sew's Baby Butterfly tutorial, so it would be a cute butterfly doll to match the Bella Butterfly fabric scraps I used. I forgot to attach the wings before taking a photo, and forgot to snap another photo before gifting the doll. You'll just have to imagine butterfly wings made out of this fabric.

Backyard Baby Quilt and Coordinating Doll Quilt

Recently, I've been working on a baby quilt for my nephew, using my stash of Backyard Baby fabric that I've been hoarding for several years.

My nephew just turned 1, so for his birthday, my mom asked me to make a small quilt for the baby boy doll she got for him. I used some leftover 3.5" squares from his baby quilt, and a leftover piece of minky. I lucked out, and had some blue that matched for binding, so it came together quickly with no trips to the store for anything. I just love when that happens.

Star Wars Pillowcases

I had to run to Joann to get a few things, and the boys came along. Easton found some cool Star Wars Death Trooper fabric, and asked if he could make another pillowcase.  There was a printing defect in the entire bolt of Death Trooper fabric and it was directional, so we winged it in order to get a pillowcase made without the flaw on it.

Once Cade saw the Death Trooper pillowcase, he changed his mind about wanting a new pillowcase. We ended up making not one, but two R2D2 pillowcases, using fabric from my stash, to keep the peace until I had a chance to get more fabric for a second Death Trooper pillowcase. We used blue trim on one pillowcase, and black trim on the other for easy identification and argument prevention. Video tutorial by Crafty Gemini we used for the R2D2 pillowcases can be found here.

I also made a cute baby bib for my niece, Penny, using scraps from her baby quilt, and some scrap batting and minky. I just need to add a few snaps before sending it off.

Sprinkles Quilt for Naomi

I needed to make a baby quilt for my great niece, and fell in love with Jaybird Quilts' Sprinkles Baby Quilt. For fabric, I used Robert Kaufman Blueberry Park and Kona Cotton White. There are 521 pieces in this 40 x 47 baby quilt, including the border and the half triangles I used to fill in the ends of the rows. I will update once it's quilted and bound.

Whole Cloth Quilt for Penny

I originally planned on using this fabric for the backing of the purple chevron quilt, but ended up using a different fabric, so this was paired with the gray peacock fabric to make a whole cloth quilt.

I also made a couple of small security blankets using some scraps.
