Lily loves her baby-doll (it is actually Abby's, but Lily has claimed it for her own). For Lily's birthday, I made her some doll clothes and she absolutely loves them. They have Velcro closures, much easier for little hands.

Easton's Quilt
Remember this quilt that I was going to make for Easton around the time he was born?
I finished piecing the top a couple of weeks ago. Why did it take so long you ask? Part of the problem was thinking I would have time to sew with a newborn. The other part of the problem was identifying and rounding up several out of print fabrics. So my pile of fabric ended up in one of my sewing totes for the last couple of years.
While we were on our annual quilt shop hop, I decided I needed to actually start cutting and piecing my poor(3 year-old) child's baby quilt. It only took a few days during nap time to cut and piece. I used a fussy cut template for the center square of each block. Here it is hot off the quilter, and ready to have the binding put on.
I haven't decided if I'm going to applique the giraffe or not. The backing on the original quilt was a white wide wale minky, but I didn't want to mess with that stretchy fabric. Instead, I used a coordinating dot for the back. The binding will be the same brown and white dot fabric as the original quilt.
I'm planning on making a twin size disappearing nine patch quilt, since I have so much leftover fabric.

Abby's Monkey
After I made Lily's monkey, Abby asked me to make her one too. I had slim pickings for scraps, but the brown eyed monkey is what we came up with. She also wanted her own monkey blanket, so I made her the little flower blanket with the "A." She loves them, but if she is anything like Lily, she'll lose interest in a day or two.

My Little Monkey
Using this free pattern, I made this for Lily using my City Girl scraps. I still have enough scraps for one more monkey, which Abby has already begged me to make. I always learn something when I sew, and today I learned that sewing random squares together is not a good idea. Would have been much better to actually plan out where I wanted squares to go and then sew them. Too many repeats in this little quilt, but I don't think the monkey will mind.
And Lily has inherited the little apron I made for Abby with more of the City Girl material that I have. She's my other little monkey.

Strawberry Cottage Caddy
This is my latest caddy: The Strawberry Cottage Caddy.
It opens up to a sweet little strawberry cottage, perfect for Strawberry Shortcake Dolls, La La Loopsy dolls, fairies, whatever little dolls clutter up your toy room.
I have been making this for. . ev. . .er. I drew up the plans last summer, finally made a real pattern in the winter, cut and sewed most of it early spring, then finally sewed all the pieces together last week. I have been lacking any real desire to do any sewing or crafts this year. And I don't know why. Hopefully when I move and get settled in, my creative juices will get flowing again. (I was so lazy that I didn't even iron the fabric in the caddy. It's my prototype for my girls so it doesn't matter, therefore I didn't do it.)
Morgan really likes to play with the Strawberry Cottage. She is really into playing with her Strawberry Shortcake dolls and also her Woodzeez animals. So it is a hit with her, at least for now!!! I'll work on getting a pattern made for all who may be interested. But judging by how fast I am getting things done, it probably won't be until Morgan graduates from High School.

Reversible Kids BYU Aprons
Mike and Abby grew out of the aprons I made them, so of course, I had to make some more. Don't tell Tom, but he is getting a matching one for Father's Day too.
Just in case you are wondering, Mike's doesn't have a ruffle.
Free tutorial found here.

Advent Calendar
My friend Janet made me this amazing Christmas advent calender. She sewed everything on by hand. I can't even imagine how much time she put into this. But she had a lot of time on her hands after having back surgery, this is just one of the many projects she worked on during her recovery. Each of the little pictures is actually stuffed and 3 dimensional. There are also sequins and beads all over it which make it absolutely dazzling. Instead of putting candy in the pockets, she suggested putting a scripture in each pocket, so all through the month of December, before Christmas, they will have read the entire nativity story. Maybe after they read the scripture I can give them a candy. This is probably the nicest, fanciest thing that a friend has ever made for me. (But of course, members of my family have made me plenty of nice and fancy things. Much thanks!!)

Ready for Quilting
Mom gave me a layer cake of Bonnie and Camille's Ruby fabric by Moda for my birthday. I finally finished the quilt. It will go in my "girls" room, if we can ever find a house to buy. The free tutorial can be found here.

Unisex Carseat Cover (for the sister in law who had the audacity not to tell me what she is having)!
As with most of my stuff, this was more cute in my head. It is reversible, so after I was close to finishing, I had the bright idea that I should have made one side for a girl, and the other side for a boy. I'll save that idea for next time (plus, you could reuse it for all your babies no matter which gender).

The Left Over Fabric
With my left over fabric, I was able to make another carseat cover (for another SIL expecting a girl), three "taggie blankets" and a doll blanket. I love finding ways to use every last inch of my fabric.
I also changed the flowers on the handles to these. I think it will hold up better in the washing machine.

Carseat Blanket
I'm glad we have this blog for our "show and tell." I show my stuff to Tom and he couldn't care less.

Ode to my laminator. . . .
Over a year ago, I purchased a cheap laminator. I love it, I use it all the time-- I've probably gone through 500 laminating pouches/sheets. How is that possible you ask? Well. . . . . .
1. I have four huge notebooks of preschool and kindergarten file folder games that my kids love playing with (and I use them with my joy school that I participate in). See this post for some examples. I love the site filefolderfun.com; they continually add new file folder games that are awesome. My SIL, Kristen, decided to spiral bind hers at office depot/office max, instead of using three-ringed binders. They look fantastic and I wish I would have thought of that before I made mine.
2. Anytime I receive a new birthday or school calendar, I laminate it before hanging it on my fridge. I laminate everything that will be on my fridge for more than a few days.
3. Whenever we get a new kids game, I laminate the instructions before the kids destroy them (If the instructions are too big, I shrink them down with my copier before laminating). Sometimes I laminate the cards too (if they are flimsy).
4. Mike's marble race toy, legos, stacking kiwis, etc. all come with instructions and ideas on how to build things. I laminate them so that they actually last.
5. I laminated the felt figures found here and here, for family home evening (now if I would actually have FHE more often).
6. I scrolled through a few years worth of Children's Friend (found here) and printed off all of the coloring/activity pages. There are dot-to-dots, mazes, find the hidden objects, coloring pages, find all the sheep, find the pictures that are the same, etc. I laminated them and had them spiral bound at office depot. I found dry-erase crayons at walmart, complete with a cloth to wipe down the pages. I like the crayons better than the markers because they are washable and don't get on the clothes as easy, although they do still get on them. Mike and Abby fight over who gets to play with this during church (which kind of defeats the purpose). I made Abby's coloring page using a free downloadable program called paint.net (after you download the program, open the picture in paint.net program, click on "effects" then "artistic" then "ink sketch", then play around with the brightness, etc.) Abby loved coloring herself funny colors.
8. I great gift for grandparents are books. Mike tells me his story, I type it on the computer, print on card stock, he draws and colors the pictures, laminate it, spiral binding, and an instant classic that will last a long time! (Mike wanted to do a joke book as he was obsessed with jokes at the time). For his dad's birthday, Mike wrote and illustrated a book with all of his favorite things about his dad.
9. I purchased some cheap ABC flashcards from the store and laminated them for Abby. I punched a whole in the corner and used one of the little note card rings (like the one in the lds file folder games above) to keep them all together and in order. She loved it (until she threw up all over it and I threw it away, even though I probably could have cleaned it off).
10. I know I have tons of other stuff, but I can't think of any more right now. I may be updating this some more. But I know that pinterest has opened up my eyes to so much more stuff to laminate.

7. I finally decided to purchase some lds themed file folder games for church (after wanting them for a couple of years). I ordered a CD at finchfamilygames.com. Some are educational, some are Bible and Book of Mormon Stories trivia. They are awesome. Here are a few.
