Yellow Brick Road Quilt

Mom sent me this pattern and fabric last year for my birthday, and I am proud to say it took me less than a year to finish it. It actually went by really quickly and has officially become the biggest quilt I have ever made. Now, it is going to be packed up and shipped off for my dear mom to quilt for me (and bind, please. I always mess up my quilt when I try to bind it).

Thanks Mom!

Looks great! Love the fabric!! I can't wait to see it and quilt it. That is a very quick pattern, and it goes together well.
Good Job!

Okay- I came across this blog a couple of months ago. I am also a young Mormon mom who loves to quilt, sew, and craft and I have a couple of questions for you talented ladies.
1. Where do you buy your fabric? I am not seeing anything nearly this cute at the fabric stores I've been to. Any specific brand of fabric that is usually good?
2. I've been anxiously waiting for the princess caddy tutorial. I know you're all probably super busy but I just wanted to offer my nudge of encouragement! I have a 2 year old girl and twins (6 mo. boy/girl) and I think the car and princess caddy's would be so fun to make for them. Any advice would be appreciated. I really loved the 3D aspect but I'm not entirely sure how to do it.

Erin,

I usually purchase my fabric from the quilt shops in Washington and Utah when visiting family. I haven't found a shop in Arizona that I particularly like, although Zoe's Quilt Trunk in Chandler has a small section of more modern fabrics. I have also purchased a lot of fabrics online, my favorite being http://fatquartershop.com. Moda and Ryler Blake are my 2 favorite manufacturers.
Hope this helps.

Erin, You totally made my day that you like the princess caddy. Thanks for speaking up! I have a rough draft of the princess caddie pattern that I can email you, as long as you don't care that its a rough draft. Email me at brojonel at hotmail.com if you want me to send it.

I also like the designer fabrics but can only order them on-line as I haven't found a cute little quilt store here in alabama yet. Fabricworm.com usually has a good variety of the cute new designer fabrics- but I haven't ever ordered from them. I usually find a fabric I like and then look on Etsy.com- they usually have fabric sellers with good prices and affordable shipping.

So I made my comment and forgot to check back or subscribe! Real smooth. Love all the new stuff on here! It's so fun to find other people who quilt. I've only done hand quilting- so I'm super impressed with all these machine quilts. Loved seeing all the different versions of the princess caddies. My twins have July birthdays so I better start going on that since it takes me months to finish a project sometimes. Thanks also for the fabric suggestions!
