I found this dress when I was moving and going through the baby clothes boxes and every time I see it, I go back to the time when I made it. I started it when Claire was about two months old. It took me a while to make, since I thought reading the pattern was like reading a foreign language, and I didn't have much time, with a baby and all (though I laugh at the idea that I was stretched for time back when I had only one kid). I hand stitched the circle design on the dress, because I had seen something similar to it on a cover of a baby magazine, and I loved it.
And you know what? I still love it. I decided, as I was looking at it this past week, that it is probably my favorite thing that I have ever made. Because it turned out exactly how I envisioned it, it is still cute six years later, both Claire and Morgan have worn it as babies and it has not fallen apart (which says a little something about my construction skills on this dress). I stitched on 'especially for Claire', but then by the time I finished making and embroidering the dress, it barely fit her. So she only wore it a couple of times and Morgan wore it more than Claire did.
Oh well.

Thank you for posting something on the blog, Brooke, not that I didn't like the flower, but it's nice to have a change.
Love the dress, I remember when you make that for Claire.
Do you have any pictures of them as babies with the dress on?
Love MOM.
It's so cute! I wouldn't have thought it was a baby dress (though I did think it was a bit small for Morgan ;) I thought it was a shirt at first. I love the hand stitching, and even more than that, I love that you've kept it all these years for your girls!
Love it! I'd love to learn how to make clothes, but I'm also terrified of trying to figure out patterns and such.
