Reverse Applique Quilt

So here is the finished quilt I made for my friends baby (who is now five months old- it took me that long). I like the look and process of the reverse applique with the ragged edge, but my quilting job makes the quilt look too baggy. Oh well. But I actually felt like I did an okay job with the binding. Baby steps.

My favorite part is the script name on the quilt. My least favorite part of it is the lack of quilting on it. I didn't do a lot because I didn't want to mess it up. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right?

That is really cute. Did you have a pattern? or did you just create?
If you created, very creative! (Did I use the word create and its derivatives enough in that last sentence?)
You were brave to try reverse applique, but it turned out quite nice! Is this the quilt that you had to unpick?

Keep on quilting!

I love it! I've never seen anything like that and absolutely love it! Did you make it up or did you have a pattern?

I didn't use a pattern or instructions really. I saw a skirt someone made with reverse applique and I thought it looked fun. So I decided to make a quilt- the technique is pretty straight forward, though you can find tutorials on-line how to reverse applique on clothes and pillows. I chose to make the ragged egdes, because I liked the look of it on the abundantly blessed table topper. On more traditional quilts, I noticed that on reverse applique, the cut it out like I did, but then tuck and sew the raw edges under.

This looks great. I want to give it a try.

I especially love the script name. Did you just use a really big font on the computer for your pattern?

Yes, I did. I can't remember the name of the font, just one of the scripts.

Hey what an awesome quilt! I'm glad it is mine all mine! I love it! Was this the one you had to completely unpick?
