A 3 tiered birthday cake

I love how Samantha's birthday cake turned out. Believe it or not, I used only 1 cake mix for this cake. The bottom layer was made by using an 8 inch round cake pan. The other 2 were made by using small pyrex bowls. The polka-a-dots are giant sprinkles. I mixed raspberry pie filling into some of the cake batter and also put the pie filling between the layers (each tier is 2 layers). It really wasn't much more difficult or time consuming than making a regular 9 inch round layer cake. I think I will be making more of these mini 3 tiered cakes in the future.

I really like the mini tiered cake. I love the colors you chose and I love the polka dot look. Where did you find the pyrex bowls?

Monica, I can't tell you how much i wish I took the cake decorating class with you, five years ago. It looks great, and I love the idea of mini cakes (because more cake = more calories for me to eat).

I received the pyrex bowls for my wedding. They came together in a set. It came with the bigger size (which is about 6 inches wide and what I used for the middle layer) and 4 of the smaller bowls, all with plastic lids, great for storage and making mini tiered cakes.

Monica, that is so good. It looks big on the picture, amazing you only had to use one cake mix.
