Abby's Monkey

After I made Lily's monkey, Abby asked me to make her one too.  I had slim pickings for scraps, but the brown eyed monkey is what we came up with.  She also wanted her own monkey blanket, so I made her the little flower blanket with the "A."  She loves them, but if she is anything like Lily, she'll lose interest in a day or two.

My Little Monkey

Using this free pattern, I made this for Lily using my City Girl scraps.  I still have enough scraps for one more monkey, which Abby has already begged me to make.  I always learn something when I sew, and today I learned that sewing random squares together is not a good idea.  Would have been much better to actually plan out where I wanted squares to go and then sew them.  Too many repeats in this little quilt, but I don't think the monkey will mind.  

 And Lily has inherited the little apron I made for Abby with more of the City Girl material that I have.  She's my other little monkey.

Strawberry Cottage Caddy

This is my latest caddy: The Strawberry Cottage Caddy.  It opens up to a sweet little strawberry cottage, perfect for Strawberry Shortcake Dolls, La La Loopsy dolls, fairies, whatever little dolls clutter up your toy room.

I have been making this for. . ev. . .er. I drew up the plans last summer, finally made a real pattern in the winter, cut and sewed most of it early spring, then finally sewed all the pieces together last week. I have been lacking any real desire to do any sewing or crafts this year. And I don't know why. Hopefully when I move and get settled in, my creative juices will get flowing again. (I was so lazy that I didn't even iron the fabric in the caddy. It's my prototype for my girls so it doesn't matter, therefore I didn't do it.)

Morgan really likes to play with the Strawberry Cottage. She is really into playing with her Strawberry Shortcake dolls and also her Woodzeez animals. So it is a hit with her, at least for now!!! I'll work on getting a pattern made for all who may be interested. But judging by how fast I am getting things done, it probably won't be until Morgan graduates from High School.

Reversible Kids BYU Aprons

Mike and Abby grew out of the aprons I made them, so of course, I had to make some more.  Don't tell Tom, but he is getting a matching one for Father's Day too. 

Just in case you are wondering, Mike's doesn't have a ruffle.

Advent Calendar

My friend Janet made me this amazing Christmas advent calender. She sewed everything on by hand. I can't even imagine how much time she put into this. But she had a lot of time on her hands after having back surgery, this is just one of the many projects she worked on during her recovery. Each of the little pictures is actually stuffed and 3 dimensional. There are also sequins and beads all over it which make it absolutely dazzling. Instead of putting candy in the pockets, she suggested putting a scripture in each pocket, so all through the month of December, before Christmas, they will have read the entire nativity story. Maybe after they read the scripture I can give them a candy. This is probably the nicest, fanciest thing that a friend has ever made for me. (But of course, members of my family have made me plenty of nice and fancy things. Much thanks!!)
